Own It — Taking Responsibility

Whatever you send using AI is still yours: your name, your business, your responsibility.

Module goal

Close the loop by taking full ownership of every AI-assisted result you put your name on.

Lesson 1The AI never stands behind the result — you do

Whatever you send, post or ship using AI assistance is still yours. The AI tool doesn't stand behind the result; you do.

  • “The AI wrote it” isn't a valid excuse. If a customer email has wrong information, responsibility sits with the person who sent it.
  • Transparency builds trust. Being honest about using AI as a tool, where it matters to the relationship, usually builds more trust than it costs.
  • Ethical judgment stays yours. Fairness, honesty and how you treat people are calls only you can make.

Real-life example: Yaw used an AI tool to draft responses to negative reviews of his repair shop. The drafts were well written, but one was slightly defensive toward a customer with a legitimate complaint. Yaw adjusted the tone to be accountable and solution-focused before posting — because it was his shop's reputation, his name and his decision.

The loop

Frame the task, direct the AI clearly, check its work carefully, and own whatever goes out the door — good or bad.

02

Practical task

Capstone — all four habits on one real task

  1. 1.Pick one real task from your work this week.
  2. 2.Frame it: decide which bucket it belongs in.
  3. 3.Direct it: write a clear instruction with context, format and constraints.
  4. 4.Check it: review facts, tone and completeness.
  5. 5.Own it: make the final adjustments, then write a short reflection on how each step changed the result compared with accepting the first AI response.
