Lesson 1Interview preparation

Entry-level security interviews test three things: fundamentals you can explain simply, evidence that you have done the work, and how you think when you do not know the answer.

  • Be able to explain TCP vs UDP, DNS resolution, and what happens when you load an HTTPS page
  • Walk through your Module 4 incident report as a real worked example
  • Answer scenario questions with a process: scope it, gather evidence, contain, communicate
  • Say 'I don't know, here is how I would find out' — it scores better than guessing

Lesson 3Continuous learning

Security knowledge decays. Build a light, permanent routine rather than occasional bursts: a weekly reading slot, a monthly lab or CTF, and a quarterly review of the skill you are deliberately deepening next.

  1. 1.Write a one-page CV section listing this programme's labs as projects, each with the tools used and the outcome.
  2. 2.Publish or draft three short write-ups: your recon findings, your detection rule, and your risk register.
  3. 3.Record yourself answering two scenario questions out loud: 'walk me through triaging a phishing report' and 'how would you test a login page?'.
  4. 4.Pick one certification aligned to your target role and schedule a realistic study plan.
  5. 5.Join one community and one recurring event, and add both to your calendar.
